Annotation | This paper aims to provide a holistic approach to the assessment of mental capacity in the context of place of residence. This is an important issue that is often encountered by Older Adult Psychologists. However, there is limited guidance regarding how to assess an individual's ability to make such an important choice. It is hoped that the clinical case example discussed will assist clinicians in considering capacity assessment in a wider context when working with multidisciplinary teams, families and service users in making life-changing decisions regarding placement and care needs.
