Annotation | Short research paper looking at ways in which shopping can contribute to healthy ageing and wellbeing in later life. The paper explores the shopping habits of older people, the importance they attach to shopping and the skills needed. Findings suggest that shopping may contribute to physical fitness and help maintain social networks. The tasks associated with shopping such as handling money, decision making and memory may contribute to the maintenance of cognitive function in later life in the same way as doing other cognitive tasks.
