AnnotationThe aims of this pilot study were to undertake the initial stages of a systematic review of the views of people living with dementia about services they received, and to explore ways of involving people with dementia in the review. Systematic reviews provide a comprehensive source of evidence for policymaking and planning of services, however to date the views of people with dementia themselves have seldom been taken into account. Seven people from a local Memory Assessment Service (MAS) who knew they had a diagnosis of dementia were recruited for the study. The work was undertaken in a group setting in order to provide a supportive environment for people to express their views. Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) was used as a method to record systematically the participants' levels of engagement and well-being. Participants commented that they had enjoyed the meetings. Using elements of DCM revealed that all members of the group demonstrated an ability to engage with the group discussions and remain focused. (JL).
