KeywordsCognitive impairment ; Research.
AnnotationResearch into the phenomenon of subjective cognitive impairment (SCI), said to be a precursor to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and possibly a harbinger to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Suggests the use of a more appropriate term, `subjective cognitive decline' (SCD) to reflect the neurodegenerative decline associated with AD. SCD is aetiologically heterogeneous and unspecific, hence the Subjective Cognitive Decline Initiative (SCD-I) has been created to develop a common research framework for characterising SCD. (JL).
