Annotation | The article offers information on mindfulness meditation and its potential benefits for older adults. Describes and introduces the practice of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a form of meditation stripped of Buddhism and developed by molecular biologist Jon Kabat-Zinn. Also discussed are research studies which examine the effects of an MBSR course on the brain, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as an intervention for depression. (JL). |
