AnnotationThis special issue of Gerontology and Geriatrics Education is a key initiative of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Research, Education and Practice Committee (REP), the only GSA committee with membership from GSA and the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE). The Committee's focus is the encouragement, development and promotion of linkages between gerontological research, education and practice. The conceptual and research-based articles in this special issue consider achievements and barriers to building the "three-legged stool" of linkages between research, education and practice, with special emphasis on roles and functions of education. First, Kolb and Conway consider roles for education in development and implementation of evidence-based practice for community programmes for older people. Second, Rosemary K Chapin and others look at lessons learned from the Reclaiming Joy Peer Support Program. Third, Naoko Muramatsu and others consider co-learning with home care aides and their clients. Fourth, Jason A Dauenbauer and others describe the design, delivery and outcomes from an interprofessional fall prevention course. Fifth, Klodiana Kolimitro and others highlight the development and preliminary evaluation of Technology Evaluation in the Elderly Network (TVN), an interdisciplinary training programme to improve care for frail older people in Canada. Lastly, Suzanne Meers and others consider how research, professional training, education and practice were integrated in a single clinical trial, the BE-ACTIV Project, a psychosocial intervention for depression.
