AnnotationAgainst the background of demographic change, mobility issues are becoming crucial. Daily outdoor activities are essential for participation in social life, especially for older people. This article examines the extent to which older people (age 70+) - especially women - are threatened by limited social participation in Berlin's suburbs. Older women's mobility is characterised by the least number of trips, the shortest distances, and more than 50% walking trips. In addition, many older women are dissatisfied with their residential area, where transport and other facilities may be lacking. In such circumstances, older women have to be considered as disadvantaged in terms of any limited social participation. (RH).
