AnnotationDuring spring 2013, students from the Niagara University Introduction to Gerontology class met at a local nursing home to take part in a six-week reading and discussion programme. The goal was to bring together gerontology students, nursing home residents and their families in order to facilitate a simulating exchange of ideas. Participants in the programme were nine young adults aged 18-22 years and 13 older adults aged 60 and above. Each week the participants read and discussed a different chapter from Pat Thane's `A History of Old Age'. All the participants valued the programme both as a learning experience and as an opportunity for intergenerational interaction. This was a collaborative learning experience for university students and older adults. A unique feature was that it brought young and older adults together as equal partners. (JL).
