Annotation | The author reflects on her experiences of completing life story work on a hospital in-patient dementia care ward. The aim is to share some of the qualitative examples of how life story work can be used to give people a sense of regaining their identity and feeling valued. She reflects on the importance of life story work in improving the quality of life and well-being for older people as well as giving staff a sense of pride and meaning in their work. She also reveals some of the challenges she faced in embedding life story work into the ward and how she overcame some of these difficulties. (RH). |
