Annotation | In this article the demographic situation and health and retirement policy in Panama are briefly presented. Panama is going through a demographic transition, even though the predominance of chronic diseases can already be observed clearly in their epidemiology and mortality profile. The geriatric resources for the care of older people in Panama have been increasing progressively for more than 20 years, with a better education level in the main areas of ageing clinical science.
