Annotation | Admiral Nurses are widely known for providing support to family members caring for people with dementia living in their own homes. The authors report on how Admiral Nurses are bringing their skills to the care home sector, and improving the quality of care as a result. They refer to Admiral Nurses' involvement with Friends of the Elderly (FotE) in 2008, the Order of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) in 2010, then with four other care home organisations (Bupa, Brunel Care, Belong and Avante), and with My Home Life (MHL). They consider the impact of Admiral Nurses' role within OSJCT, and roles with supervision, advocacy, empowerment and training; also structured support for relative and families, and making a difference.
