Annotation | BUPA asked the Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA) to look at ways of improving older people's health chances and well-being, to draw together best practice, and to identify those individuals most at risk. This report presents and discusses indicators and data sources illustrative of costs and/or savings in healthcare of older people's ill health. It looks at preventive measures for achieving better health in older age. The report suggests five key interventions that would help people enjoy a healthier old age, both physically and mentally: promoting lifestyle change; promoting improved social interaction; practical low-level interventions that would allow older people to remain in their own homes; medical interventions such as screening and vaccination; and elimination of ageism and age discrimination.
