AnnotationExplores how demographic change is confronting challenges in social, economic and welfare contexts in Iran. Iran is currently confronted by great challenges as its demographic structure is changing. While life expectancy is increasing nationwide, senior citizens' expectations are also changing in various ways. Senior citizens need new policies, more welfare and medical assistance, lower poverty levels and independent lives. The paper examines 452 families with ageing people in Tehran, and how they need assistance and care. The effects of demographic change would ultimately be on ageing people. (JL).
