AnnotationThis article briefly presents minutes of the Annual Meeting of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, held at Los Angeles on 14-17 March 2013. A key item for discussion was the Institute of Medicine's report on the shortage of mental health providers caring for older adults, with a particular focus on substance abuse. Other seminars and symposia looked at the following topics: dementia and other cognitive disorders; bipolar disorder; depression; electroconvulsive therapy; hoarding disorder; and successful ageing.
