AnnotationIn 2011, the Older People's Mental Health Primary Care Service (OPMHPCS) in Cambridgeshire published details of a pilot service providing primary care psychological interventions to older people in St Ives, Huntingdon. The OPMHPCS has been expanding its services to provide evidence-based psychological interventions for people with mild to moderate mental health problems and mild memory problems. This article describes the introduction of such services in the Fenland district in terms of developing a skilled workforce; provision of interventions for and engagement with the client group; and ensuring an effective service. Taking into account user views, for example that the service helps reduce stigma relating to mental health problems, the article notes some key learning points and lessons learned in delivering an OPMHPCS.
