AnnotationThe authors interviewed older people in Northern Ireland to gauge their experiences of domiciliary care, and to make practical recommendations for how it can improve. A mixed methods approach was used combining qualitative and quantitative methods, with the aim of investigating the older person's and carer's perspectives and to increase the comprehensiveness of the overall findings. While the research found that most of those interviewed rated the service highly, both for quality of care and the supportiveness of the care workers, issues such as continuity of care, time pressure and service inflexibility continue to cause concern. Establishing a multi-agency group providing a holistIc approach to care is suggested.
