Annotation | The Mental Capacity Act 2003, the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, the Mental Health Act 1983, and 'Safeguarding vulnerable adults policy' (2008) provide guidance that ensures that wherever abuse is suspected, a defined protocol is followed. In this context, the author explains how dementia care mapping (DCM) can be a powerful preventative tool for safeguarding people with dementia. Dementia care mapping also allows systematic measurement and improvement of quality of care practice. (RH). |
