Annotation | Transitional objects are items such as a soft toy or blanket carried around by a young child, and of vital importance to the child. An occupational therapist and a clinical psychologist explain how transitional objects can offer comfort to people with dementia, depression or anxiety to counteract experiences of uncertainty and anxiety. Four case studies provide examples of the potential or meaningful value of transitional objects, such as 'memory blankets'. (RH). |
