AnnotationIn 2009, Queens Court Care Home, London, worked with Many Happy Returns, a social enterprise, to deliver a life story project. Collected Short Stories is an autobiographical album that tracks the pictorial history of dementia patients' lives using photographs and printed material. The album includes details of important events in a person's life such as work, marriage and children, as well as achievements in later life. This article describes how this example of life story work has helped in building and strengthening relationships between residents, their families and care home staff. The residents' sense of value, well-being and self-esteem rose and their alertness and sociability has increased. The families' appreciation of their loved ones, the carers and the home has been strengthened. The carers' work enjoyment, motivation and commitment have increased both individually and as a team.
