Annotation | There is no single model of housing with care (HWC) for older people. A range of providers and other key players are involved in commissioning and delivering this hybrid of housing, care and support. In some schemes, there are multiple providers, each delivering different services. This is a summary of a qualitative study exploring the boundaries of roles and responsibilities in HWC, and how they impact on older residents' quality of life, particularly those with high support needs. The UK-wide study involved 20 schemes for rent and for sale, run by private and not-for-profit providers. The researchers interviewed 47 older tenants and leaseholders, 8 family carers, and 52 professionals, including providers, scheme staff, commissioners, regulators, and national organisations.
