AnnotationStrengthening the quality of life in cities and incorporating progressive and aesthetically appealing urban design features are central concerns in Germany. But how can the interests of multiple generations be served through urban design? It is in this context that the initiative `Innovations for Appropriate Urban Neighbourhoods for Families and the Elderly' was established by the Federal Government in Germany. The project's main questions were how inner-city neighbourhoods can be transformed into places to live and reside for all generations and how construction initiatives can be framed to adapt these neighbourhoods to meet changing demographic and social needs.
