Annotation | Millions of individuals in the UK are not saving enough for their retirement. The workplace pension reforms are a response to some of the key challenges facing the UK pensions system. This Research summary outlines the findings of Department for Work and Pensions Research report 803 (114 pp; ISBN 9781908523754), which was prepared by the Department's Workplace Pension Reform Evaluation Team, with contributions from the Pensions Regulator and National Employment Savings Trust (NEST). The baseline report is the first following the Workplace Pension Reforms Evaluation Strategy and aims to describe the landscape before implementation of the reforms. The main report is structured around the eight key evaluation questions outlined in the Strategy. This summary covers: delivery of the reforms and employer awareness; increasing the number of savers; increasing the amount of savings; understanding the wider context; and the long-term impact of the reforms. Subsequent reports monitoring the effects of the reforms will be published on an annual basis during implementation. (RH). |
