Annotation | This report is a summarised version of the 'Diabetes and climate change report' produced by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in June 2012 with support from Bupa. It outlines the direct and indirect connections between type 2 diabetes and climate change, including: the impact of heatwaves and extreme weather events on the health of people with diabetes; the impact climate change on food availability; and the links between greenhouse gas emissions and obesity. The win-win approach recommends urban and transport planning and food policies that are more sustainable. Thus, the report establishes both the interconnections between these global risks and the opportunity to combat them together. (RH). |
