Annotation | An extensive body of research associates well-being in later life with religious involvement. This article reports on a pilot study of one previously unexamined aspect of religious involvement, namely, Scriptural Reminiscence (SR). SR is the interpreting of biography in the light of scripture in recognition of its unique place in the self-as-narrative of older people of faith. In this small pilot study, two groups of older Christians met weekly over a six-week period with a follow-up focus group to explore SR, their faith journey, practice of religion, and mental health. All the participants reported that they found the sessions helpful in deepening their knowledge and understanding of scripture and engaging with it in living their daily lives. (JL). |
