Annotation | Every year, more than one in three (3.4 million) over 65s suffer a fall that can cause serious injury and even death. Age UK's 'Stop falling: start saving lives and money' campaign calls for falls prevention services to be prioritised by all those responsible, including the Department of Health (DH), general practitioners (GPs), primary care trusts (PCTs) and local authorities. This report provides evidence on the cost of falls; makes recommendations on staying active and investing in falls prevention services; and gives examples of such services. Age UK calls for evidence-based exercise programmes and access to. falls prevention services for all older people who are at risk of falling. (RH) |
