Annotation | This Commission for the Sixth German Government Report on the Elderly examines images of ageing to identify the extent to which they encourage of prevent people adopting responsibility for themselves and others during their lives. The report considers and makes recommendations in relation to: education as a right and obligation for all age groups; avoiding negative and positive discrimination of old age; perceptions of ageing in the world of work; aligning health policy to a long life society; and redefining long-term care. Reports in the intervening years have dealt with: the housing and living environment in old age (1998); old age and society (2001); risks, quality of life and service provision for the very old, with a special focus on dementia (2002); and the potentials of old age on the economy and society - older people's contribution to generational solidarity (2006).
