AnnotationThe first two editions (1999 and 2004) had the title 'Nursing older people: issues and innovations'; the first edition was published by Maclennan and Petty. With contributions by experts in the field of geriatric nursing in Australia, this 3rd edition reflects recent developments in the care of older people and the importance of person-centred care, in which the older person is not just the recipient of care. The book is arranged in three sections, the first of which, on contextual issues and innovations, deals with broader issues of ageing care including policy development. The second section is more practice focused and considers research on an evidence-based practice approach to care. The third section looks at how we might respond to an ageing society and workforce. The accompanying DVD provides video clips of interviews with health practitioners and it highlights innovations to health care demands on issues such as dementia. {RH).
