Annotation | Commentary informed by surveys in 2010 and 2011 of Directors of Public Health, joint strategic needs assessment (JSNA) leads in the south east, and other research exercises provides a critique on the overall readiness of JSNA to respond to the new roles and functions of the Health and Social Care Bill 2011. The authors identify key issues that must be tackled if JSNA is to fulfil new expectations, in particular a call for action for members of health and well-being boards to audit the quality of their existing JSNA.
