Annotation | This 'Bromley briefings: prison factfile' is one in a series with this title produced twice a year since November 2006 in memory of Keith Bromley, a friend of the Prison Reform Trust (PRT). It presents recent facts and figures from government and other official sources on prisons and prisoners in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It includes information on older prisoners (aged 50+). On 31 March 2011, there were 8,804 prisoners aged over 50 in England and Wales, including 42 aged 81 and over. Other concerns relating to older prisoners include physical and mental health problems. (RH). |
