AnnotationThe current adult social care system in England is in financial crisis and needs urgent lasting reform. Many of those who need help and support are being let down by a system that is faltering, while others find themselves having to sell their homes in order to pay for the support they need. This campaign document presents individual case studies and points to a need that social care should be able to agree with seven statements. First, I receive the care and support I need and there's no chance I'll be left without it. Second, I receive high quality care and support. Third, the care and support I receive enables me to live safely and with self-respect. Fourth, I am able to plan in advance before I need care. Fifth, I am able to pay for my care in a fair and transparent way. Sixth, I find the system clear and easy to understand. Lastly, if I have a family member or friend who acts as a carer they have the support they need and are not expected to sacrifice health, career, social life or future economic security. (RH).
