AnnotationThis issue of Gerontology & Geriatrics Education contains articles written by experts in research, education and practice related to older drivers, in response to an invitation offered to Professor Nina M Silverstein of the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2007, to coordinate a special symposium for the 2008 Annual meeting of the Association in Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) held in Baltimore, Maryland in February 2008. The articles variously discuss: safe driving expectancy; screening for fitness to drive; the transition to non-driver status through error-specific driving restrictions; occupational therapy and older drivers; Drive-Wise, an interdisciplinary hospital-based driving assessment; a dementia caregiver group intervention to assist in driving cessation; and volunteer drivers.
