| Annotation | David Cameron's Big Society encompasses a long-term vision for change around these three areas: promoting social action; empowering local communities; and opening up public sector contracts. Civil society organisations (charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups) will need to embrace new skills, partnerships and organisational methods, if they are to seize the opportunities of the Big Society agenda. This consultation document includes information from the National Survey of Third Sector Organisations (now renamed the National Survey of Charities and Social Enterprises) indicating the value of such organisations. The consultation seeks responses to Question 9 (How can central Government best work with national infrastructure to support and deliver the Big Society?) by 25 November 2010.
