Annotation | Research suggests that there is now an association between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and osteoporosis, and that there are common aetiological mechanisms for the disease. The editorial to this themed content on CVD asks whether CVD increases the risk of hip fracture. Other items in this section include a paper evaluation on atrial fibrillation; a special report on prevention of CVD and the role of fibre; and a commentary on the prognostic role of metabolic syndrome (MetS). The section concludes with three reviews, one of which considers the impact of aerobic physical activity on cardiovascular and non-vascular outcomes, and asks whether anyone is too old to exercise.
