AnnotationThis report is about older people in low- and middle-income countries and the work they do. It dispels some popular myths: that older people do. not work; that they are dependent on their families; and that they do not contribute to the economy. Instead, it reveals that millions of people across the world continue to work well into old age. It discusses the reasons why older people work, the types of work they do, and the challenges they face. It calls upon governments across the world to implement key recommendations to address older workers' needs. The report highlights how millions of older people in low- and middle income countries are denied their right to decent work - that is, full and productive work carried out in conditions of freedom, equality and security that respect human dignity.
