AnnotationThis study explores the relationship between grandparent caregivers' use of resources and their levels of burden. The National Resource Center for Native American Aging, in coordination with the North Dakota Data Center, conducted the National Family Caregiver Support Program Study, which surveyed 247 rural grandparents living in an upper Midwest state. Overall, grandparents report a low level of burden. Level of burden varies by reason for caring for a child (family violence), having a grandchild with a disability, having a stressed relationship with the child's parent, and use of government resources.
