Annotation | Targeted case finding for cardiovascular prevention is the obvious and sensible choice, compared with universal screening. This editorial reviews the study by Chamnan and colleagues in this issue of the British Medical Journal, and agrees that a simpler methodology than the universal screening advocated by the Department of Health (DH) is preferable. It cites a similar study started by Sandwell Primary Care Trust in 2006 which was based on targeted case finding. Before investigating complicated ideas, the simpler ones should be implemented.
