Annotation | Older people are often ignored in environmental disasters such as earthquakes and floods in developing countries, when their experiences and resources of wisdom and endurance could be used to good effect. The author suggests that there may be lessons which developing countries can pass on to those in more affluent nations in the current economic crisis. For example, self-help projects should be encouraged with an emphasis on income generation. (RH). |
