AnnotationIn the 2010 general election, four out of every ten votes will be cast by the 14 million people aged over 60, and the political parties cannot take these votes for granted. Age Concern and Help the Aged (Age UK from 1 April 2010) has produced these resources for campaigning for the general and local elections. The main pamphlet presents five themes on domestic issues which are Age UK's challenges for the Westminster Parliament: equal respect; support to be independent; enough money; feeling well; and taking part locally. A final section sets out global reforms that Age UK wants the UK government to push for. The foldout pamphlet includes suggestions for questions to ask candidates, while a postcard for sending to candidates seeks their answers to five questions. The posters are publicity for local Age UK and Age Concern organisations and has been disseminated by Help the Aged's Speaking Up for Our Age campaign. (RH).
