Annotation | A previous report by ECCA, 'Can we afford the doctor?' examined the wide variations in costs of general practitioner (GP) retainers. ECCA has published a follow-up report on the issue of care homes being charged retainer fees by GPs to visit and register care home residents. This new report examines the levels of awareness of primary care trusts (PCTs) of the issue and PCT attitudes towards GP retainers. It also highlights good practice in promoting care home residents' access to primary care services, but demonstrates that such access varies according to location. (RH). |
