Annotation | The learning needs of older, frail and dependent older people are being ignored; and little is known of the quality of training or support given to those whose role is to engage with this group. The Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) provided funding for NIACE to undertake a mapping exercise highlighting good practice, barriers to development, and opportunities for inter-institutional development; and to produce a scoping study. This interim report presents initial findings based on a literature review, site visits and consultations. It examines curriculum; funding; collaboration in planning, delivering and funding; sectoral views; and issues such as ethnicity, gender, dementia, and the needs of carers. (RH) |
