Annotation | The British Institute of Human Rights has published a second edition of 'Human Rights Act 1998 - changing lives' (BIHR, 2008), which states that "individuals have the right to be treated with respect, dignity and fairness". This article notes that the new edition highlights the evolving use of the Act as human rights become integrated into society's culture. Both editions use case studies to illustrate the practical application of human rights both by individuals and organisations as well as the impact on older people and older people with mental illness. This article includes many of the case studies and lists key learning points. (RH). |
