Annotation | There are both scientific and moral arguments against the complete abolition of age discrimination. A London general practitioner (GP) writes in the context of consultation by the Government regarding the age requirements in the Equality Bill. She refers to the moral case of the "fair innings" made by Alan Williams in the BMJ in 1997, and to two books by Amartya Sen, 'Inequality reexamined' (1992), and recently 'The idea of justice'.
