AnnotationA new employment White Paper was published in December 2010, which focuses on the support that Government will offer to people who have lost their jobs during the recession. This briefing sets out the White Paper's key measures, concentrating on recommendations that will support carers to combine their caring role with paid work. Carers UK welcomes the Government's pledge to to carry out a consultation on how it can help carers to remain in work, which may include additional unpaid leave for planned responsibilities such as hospital visits and unpaid leave for carers of someone with a terminal illness. The briefing also notes Carers UK's representation on the Employment Task Force for the National Carers Strategy during 2007/08, also its work with Jobcentre Plus (JCP). (RH).
