AnnotationIn 2007, the National Audit Office (NAO) concluded that dementia services in England were not providing value for money to taxpayers or people with dementia and their families. The present report assesses the Department of Health (DH) response to recommendations made in the Committee of Public Accounts' subsequent report on giving as much priority to dementia as to cancer and coronary heart disease (CHD). More particularly, it assesses the robustness of the Department's National Dementia Strategy. The report examines the development of the Strategy, the role of leadership in developing and implementing the Strategy, and cost-effective delivery of the Strategy. (RH).
