AnnotationNHS Directions are instructions issued by the Secretary of State for Health who has powers under NHS primary legislation to give directions to health authorities, special health authorities and NHS trusts. These are legally binding and must be complied with by the recipient; see: http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/... The Secretary of State gives these Directions in exercise of powers conferred by Sections 8, 272(7) and (8), and 273(1) of the National Health Service Act 2006. These Directions amend the National Health Service (Nursing Care in Residential Accommodation) (England) Directions 2007, which made compliance with the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS-funded Nursing care mandatory from 1 October 2007. (RH).
