Annotation | The Intergroup on Ageing is an informal discussion group within the European Parliament which brings together MEPs from diverse nationalities and political backgrounds. The co-Presidents of the Intergroup were in 2003: Guido Podestà (PPE, IT), Marie-Liese Flemming (PPE, AU), Stephen Hughes (PSE, UK), Marieke Sanders (ELDR, NL), Bartho Pronk (PPE, NL), Jean Lambert (Green, UK), and Gerard Collins (UEN, IRL). The Intergroup met in March 2003. MEPs agreed on a declaration to the European Spring Summit which was sent to the press, and Heads of States and Government. The Statement called for "a better coherence on Ageing issues", and in particular "To prepare fully for both the social and economic consequences of the ageing of the European population, to better coordinate the different ongoing policies, and to mainstream ageing issues in all EU policies".
