Annotation | In April 2008, following the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, LINks (Local Involvement Networks) replaced the Patient and Public Involvement Forums, which in turn had previously replaced the Community Health Councils (CHCs). The legislation requires social services authorities in England to initiate the setting up of a local LINk, and to appoint a host organisation to run it independently. This briefing outlines the role of LINks, and calls on members of the National Pensioners Convention (NPC) to become involved in LINks, to have a say in what happens to health and social care. Attention is drawn to a co-ordinating organisation, the National Association of LINks Members (NALM) and its website (www.nalm.org.uk). (RH). |
