| Annotation | The present paper is based on four years of data issued from health assessment, free of charge, intended for older immigrants in France and specifically in Marseille. The survey shows that older immigrants suffer from isolation (very few migrants have family where they live), but there is also a collective isolation in certain districts or homes for immigrants. Moreover, the author encountered specific pathologies resulting from difficult working conditions, no access to services for older people or social and health rights, and from not being covered by social insurance. To continue to live in their own homes, older immigrants need French society to develop for them a policy which allows a suitable home, a co-ordinated range of services, the maintaining of social contact, and mobilisation and support of informal assistance networks.
