Annotation | Demographic change and its financial implications are both exerting pressure on adult social care. In this evidence to the All-Party Parliamentary Local Government Group Inquiry, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) states that there must be a change in the way care services are provided. ADASS reviews social care policy since 2000, provides local examples of care (some involving participation by older people), and states some core objectives of services that are designed around the individual. New models of care are needed, in which prevention should have a greater profile, with Social Services Directors having a greater role in commissioning services. (RH). |
