AnnotationHousing our Ageing Population : Panel for Innovation (HAPPI) was established in 2009 to answer the question, what further reform is needed. to ensure that new build specialised housing meets the needs and aspirations of the older people of the future? Ten case studies from the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden from the project are variously used to answer four questions. First, why is meeting housing needs a national priority? Examples are Darwin Court Southwark, London; and Herfra til Evigheden Roskilde, Denmark. Second, what kind of housing will meet our needs as we grow older? Examples are De Rokade Groningen, Netherlands; Gradmann Haus Stuttgart, Germany; and Gibeleich Zurich, Switzerland. Third, how can this housing be delivered? Examples are Postiljonen Skanör, Sweden; Hartrigg Oaks New Earswick, York; and Neptuna Malmö, Sweden. Lastly, who can make it happen? Examples are Colliers Gardens Fishponds, Bristol; and Solinsieme St Gallen, Switzerland. (RH)
